Alexis Sanchez to complete Manchester United transfer in next 48 hours, could make debut on Saturday
The Daily Express say Sanchez could make his debut for the Red Devils on Saturday as they travel to Turf Moor to face Sean Dyche’s Burnley, with his move to Old Trafford expected to go through this week.
Sanchez, 28, appeared to be edging towards a move to Manchester City last week – Pep Guardiola attempted to sign the Chile international last summer and was keen to bring him to the Etihad during the current window.
But City sensationally pulled out of the deal, giving Mourinho free run in the battle to sign Arsenal’s contract rebel. His proposed switch to United could cost up to £65million.
Arsenal are resigned to losing Sanchez this month, having initially hoped he would stay until the end of the season, but want Henrikh Mkhitaryan to be included in the deal.
Arsene Wenger has been planning for life without Sanchez, identifying Brazilian star Malcom and Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as targets for the remainder of the January transfer window.
But while Bordeaux are playing hard ball over a deal for Malcom, Arsenal have reportedly made a breakthrough in their pursuit of Aubameyang, with the Gabon international agreeing terms over a move to the Emirates.
Sanchez’s proposed move to Old Trafford could yet fail through, however, with Mino Raiola claiming United will not be able to secure a deal unless Arsenal agree terms with Mkhitaryan.
‘Manchester United are not going to sign Sanchez unless Mkhi agrees to join Arsenal,’ Raiola told The Times.
‘Mkhi is going to do what is best for him. He has two-and-a-half years left on his contract so it’s his decision. Sanchez is part of the Mkhi deal, not the other way around.’
